John Grant Frye, 86 of Scott City died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born February 15, 1927 in Cape Girardeau, MO to John Grant and Emma Elizabeth Brucher Frye. He married Irma Mae Brunke on January 9, 1954. John was a conductor for Southern Pacific for 30 Years. He served in the US Army and the National Guard for 38 years and served during World War II. He was a baptized member of Eisleben Lutheran Church of Scott City, a member of H.O Grauel Masonic Lodge #672, Wilson Chapter 75 of York Rite, Cape Council #20 York Rite, Cape Girardeau Commandery #55 of York Rite, Scottish Rite Valley of St. Louis, Capaha Scottish Rite of Cape Girardeau, American Legions Post #63 in Cape, Shriners of St. Louis and S.E.M.O. Radio Club. He is survived by his wife, Irma; a son, Mike Frye of Scott City; three daughters, Patty (Tom) Schiwitz of Chaffee, Donna (Mike) Essner of Scott City, Debbie (Carl) Kolkmeier of St. Charles, a daughter-in-law, Donna Frye of Gordonville; three brothers, Danny Frye of Ft. Myers, Fl, George Frye of Savoy, IL and Ralph Frye of Lafayette, LA; a sister, Helen Craig of Eagle Lake, TX; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John G. Frye, a brother and a sister. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. A Scottish Rite service will be at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be from 9:00 Am Wednesday until time of service at Eisleben Lutheran Church. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the church with Pastor Marty Hasz officiating. Burial will be in Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Eisleben Lutheran Church or Southeast Hospice. |
