Ron Minton, 70, of Walters Graveside service at Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK, Monday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Ronald Armstrong Minton was born to Joe Bud "J.B." and Sarah Naomi Armstrong Minton on July 24, 1944 at Frederick, OK and departed this life in an Oklahoma City Hospital on Sunday, November 23, 2014. Ron grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1962 and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from Central State University. He married Betty Friels on August 15, 1965 at First United Methodist Church in Walters. To the union 3 children were born. They made their home at Oklahoma City and then to Idabel, OK, for a time before moving the family to Walters in the early 1970's. Ron worked at Armstrong's Variety Store in Walters for 20 years. For the past 15 years he has made his home at Ten Oaks Retirement Center in Lawton. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Walters. He had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying for several years. He also enjoyed ham radio and computers, and was an avid OU Fan. Ron was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Vance Minton on October 23, 1969; and his parents, J.B. and Naomi Minton. Survivors include 2 daughters and their husbands, Rulissa and Brian Trout of Edmond, OK, Rhonna and Otis Rickman of Brentwood, TN; 2 brothers, David Minton and wife Patti of Hanover, KS, Stewart Minton and wife Pam of Walters; 6 grandchildren, Tyler and Colton Trout, Abbi, Alex, Aric and Adam Rickman; his Ten Oaks Family; other relatives and friends. |
