Hello and thanks for checking out my profile. My name is Chris and I live in Salt Flat Texas about 60 miles east of El Paso with my wife. We live completely off-grid in a 4 bedroom house running on 6kw of solar panels and batteries with a 10kw generator for backup. If I disappear while we are talking its most likely we ran out of power. I will be back once I start the generator. I work in El Paso at Fort Bliss Army Base. I work for Motorcycle Mechanics Institute teaching solders about motorcycles service. I work at night so most of the time you will find me on the radio during the day or on weekends.

My father was an old spark gaper and radio experimenter. I grew up in his radio and TV shop in Houston, TX. At a very young age I had a shortwave radio and spent a lot of time listening to Ham Radio light at night. I still remember trying to talk to them on my SW radio. I thought they could hear me if I talked to them through the speaker. I started studying for my license and in 1978. I received KA5BFT for my first call.
