Russell Brooks Lamb, 92, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Solara Hospital in Harlingen, Texas.
Russell was born May 22, 1920 in Pomeroy, Ohio to Russell Brooks Lamb, Sr. and Leona Magadling Lurding. He graduated from Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City, OK in May 1937, and then went to attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in May 1948 and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering in August 1949. Russell took graduate courses in Material Control from the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY from 1949 to 1950 and graduate courses in Production Control from the Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI from 1960 to 1961. He proudly served his country with the U. S. Army during World War II and retired as a Colonel with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1973.
Russell was employed with Joseph E. Seagrams & Son in Louisville, KY as a Management Trainee from 1949 to 1951 and then by the Serge A. Barn Co. in Louisville, KY as a Management Consultant from 1951to 1958. Then he went to work for John Ouster Manufacturing Co. in Milwaukee, WI as a Director of Industrial Relations and the Staff Industrial Engineer from 1958 to 1966. In 1966 he went to work for A.T. Kearney CO. in Chicago, IL as a Senior Consulting Engineer where he retired from in 1970.
He was a member of the National Electrical Manufacturing Association where he received the Community Services Award and was a Scoutmaster, an Explorer Training Specialist and Chairman of the Training Committee for the Milwaukee County Council Boy Scouts of America. Russell was also a member of the South Texas Amateur Repeater Society and a ham operator and received the Ham of the Year in 1991.
He is survived by his son, Richard B. Lamb and his wife Karen of Alta Loma, CA; grandson, Ryan Brooks Lamb; granddaughter, Amy Lamb; and great grandchildren, Haley, Blake and Regan Lamb.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife Louise Lamb; parents Russell Brooks and Leona Lamb; sister, Juanita O. Riley; and son Russell Bryan Lamb.
A memorial service celebrating Russell's life will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 1:00 P.M., in the Sunseeker Club House at Sun West Mobile Home Park on West Business 83 with Pastor Richard Croghan officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Oklahoma City, OK.
