Daniel Louis Paar, age 65 of Trezevant, formerly of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, 2019.
He was born on June 9, 1953 in Canton, OH, the son of Jean Wiesel Paar and the late Louis Herbruck Paar.
Dan was a PROUD member of law enforcement for 47 years. His blood ran blue! He started his career at 18 years old at Norton Police Department in Ohio followed by Summit County Sheriffs office in Ohio. Dan then moved to his beloved Tennessee. He started on Jackson Police Department and he started and was the first Lt. Of the DUI task force before moving to Madison County Sheriffs Office. At MCSO he worked his way up to ASSISTANT CHIEF. After his retirement from MCSO Dan worked at Carroll County Sheriffs Office. Dan has also worked for Perry Township Police Department in Ohio and part time at Henderson County Sheriffs Department in TN. Dan was the founder of Area Wide Protective which is now the largest traffic flagging company in the United States. Dan was a very involved in HAM radios. He was know by many as WV8W. Dan was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, The Moose, The Elks, The Eagles and multiple HAM RADIO groups.
He is survived by his wife, Amy May Paar of Trezevant, TN; son Shane (Laura) Paar of Jackson; daughter Risa Paar of Trezevant; mother Jean Paar of Canton Ohio; his grandchildren Dallas, Berkley and Rylar; cousin Michele Catoline (Rachael Cohen,Brent Cohen) of St Louis MO and MaryBeth Caroline of FL; his best friend of 55 years who was more like a brother Jim Lincoln of Canton Ohio.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4-6 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home with funeral services following at 6 pm. Mr. Paar's remains will be transported to Lamiell Funeral Home in Canton, OH for funeral service and burial at Calvary Cemetery in Massilon, OH.
